I Will Never Forget
Dear, beloved mother:
I cannot put into words how I feel right now, nor will I try; I do not matter. You are the bravest, most generous and selfless soul I have ever known. You had the misfortune of raising us four boys, and were a lone delicate flower amongst five men. You gave me unconditional, undeserved love and I repaid you with pettiness and selfishness. While I ran around concerned with my own personal matters and nothing else, you were the one always thinking of everybody except yourself… the one who, while fighting for your life, kept worrying about our health and our well being. And how courageously you fought, sweet angel.
I love you mom, I love you mom, I love you mom.
You were truly too good for us and we didn’t deserve you. The only thing you ever wanted out of life was for us all to be amongst each other and united as a family. The last words you uttered in the house that you made, the place you made into a home before being taken to the hospital for the last time, were: “don’t forget me”. The very fact that you spoke those words speaks volumes about how inadequately we’ve emotionally expressed ourselves throughout the years.
WE WILL NEVER FORGET YOU, SWEET ANGEL.
